These ancient teachings and beliefs have reached us today thanks to these symbols.

The Heart Mala collection of Buddha charms & jewellery includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings, handmade with love from silver, brass & healing gemstones.
Buddhism has a deep & ancient talismanic tradition. Amulets and charms with Buddhist inscriptions or the Image of the Buddha were worn for protection & to assist on the path of attaining Enlightenment or Buddhahood.
Siddhārtha Gautama was a spiritual teacher from Nepal who founded Buddhism in approx 500BC. In most Buddhist traditions, he is regarded as the Supreme Buddha of our age… "Buddha," meaning "awakened one" or "the enlightened one”.
Some of the fundamentals of the teachings attributed to Gautama Buddha are:
* The Four Noble Truths: that suffering is an ingrained part of existence and that suffering can be minimalized by following the Noble Eightfold Path
* The Noble Eightfold Path: right understanding, thought, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.
* Dependent origination: the mind creates suffering as a natural product of a complex process.
* Rejection of the infallibility of accepted scripture: Teachings should not be accepted unless they are borne out by our experience.
* Anitya: That all things that come to be have an end.
* Dukha: That nothing which comes to be is ultimately satisfying.
* Anātman: That nothing in the realm of experience can really be said to be "I" or "mine".
* Nirvāna: It is possible for sentient beings to realize a dimension of awareness which is totally unconstructed and peaceful, and end all suffering from the mind's interaction with the conditioned world.
According to tradition, the Buddha emphasized ethics and correct understanding. He questioned everyday notions of divinity and salvation. He stated that there is no intermediary between mankind and the divine; and the Buddha is only a guide and teacher for beings who must tread the path of Nirvāṇa themselves to attain the spiritual awakening called bodhi and understand reality. The Buddhist system of insight and meditation practice is not claimed to have been divinely revealed, but to spring from an understanding of the true nature of the mind, which must be discovered by treading the path guided by the Buddha's teachings.

The word mala means “garland” in Sanskrit, thus inferring a garland of flowers, of beads or a garland of prayers. Sacred Mala necklaces traditionally have the auspicious number of 108 beads plus a guru bead or mother bead and a tassel representing enlightenment. It is said there are 108 reasons why 108 is believed to be a sacred number which holds the energy of healing, good fortune, abundance, and enlightenment. Each bead represents one mantra, prayer or your own personal affirmation, to be repeated 108 times until the guru bead or mother bead is reached which validates the end of one round in the prayer cycle.

Mantras originated in the ancient Vedic traditions and are sounds, prayers, words or phrases that are chanted out loud or internally for meditation that assists in aligning the heart-mind-body-spirit with a deeper state of consciousness. Mantras are believed to have the ability to transform our awareness into an awareness of ourselves as Self which is a part of supreme self God and have been called the sound body of God: God in the form of sound.
Mala Prayer Beads also known as Japa Malas are traditionally used to count the repetition of 108 mantras in the prayer cycle and assists the mind in focusing on the meditation process, preventing mental distraction as the mala is moved in rhythm with the breath and the mantra.
Sound and the spoken word is believed to have enormous power in most religions of the world from the Creation Song Lines of the Dream Time of the Australian Aboriginal to the Christian Bible. Throughout history, cultures have believed in the sacred and magical power of sound and have believed that uttering certain words or names could control the external world, or unseen forces.
Considered the most sacred sound in the Vedas is "OM " or “AUM " According to ancient Vedic belief, in the beginning there was sound, which reverberated as Om and from that sound everything came into existence, the primeval sound, the first sound of the universe, the sound of creation itself. According to tradition, ancient sages were able to hear the subtle vibrations produced by everything in the universe, and they identified Om as the most elemental sound of creation. In a quiet environment, you can hear the vibration of Om in the crashing of ocean waves, in the stillness of a forest, or in the rush of wind. OM is used by meditators as a mantra to assist in reaching higher states of awareness. Many mantras and prayers begin and end with the sound Om. The vibration produced by chanting Om in the physical universe corresponds to the original vibration that first arose at the time of creation. The sound of Om is also called Pranava, meaning that it sustains life and runs through Prana or breath. The sound ”Om” is actually a combination of four parts: a ("ah"), or wakefulness; u ("oh"), the dream state; m ("mmm"), the quietness of deep, dreamless sleep; and the silence that follows, which represents pure consciousness. As yogis will attest, the vibrations of om help settle the mind in a profound way.
You can repeat a mantra silently or loudly, at the same speed at which you talk, repeated once with the inhalation and once with the exhalation, coordinated with the breath to circulate throughout your body, permeating every cell of your being.
Some popular Sanskrit mantras are:
“Om Namah Ganeshaya “ - This mantra is chanted to bring success, prosperity, knowledge and illumination by removing obstacles to peace, happiness, growth, and evolution.
“Om Shree Maha Lakshmai Namah” - is a prayer to mother Lukshmi and is said to bring wealth and abundance in the financial, emotional and spiritual aspects of life.
“Om Namah Shivaya - is said to be a powerful mantra to Lord Shiva which dissolve negative energy and brings tranquility.
“Om Namah Narayana” - Narayana is also called Vishnu, one of the Hindu Trinity, who represents the principle of sustenance and humanity. When in deep distress, you can say this mantra to regain equilibrium and harmony.
“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha” - a mantra for the deity Tara who evokes strength, healing, and compassion.
“Om mani padme hum” which means “Hail to the Jewel of the Lotus” associated with Lord Buddha
“Om Bhrum Svaha Om Amrita Avur Da Day Svah” - which is recited to have longer life.
“Om Shanti Shanti Om” - is an ivocation of peace
"Om bhur'bhuvah svah tatsaviturvarenyam bhargo devasya dhimahi dhiyo yo nah prachodyat" - The Gāyatrī Mantra is a highly revered prayer to the Supreme God, translated by Swami Vivekananda: "We meditate on the glory of that Being who has produced this universe; may He enlighten our minds." It is a prayer to the creator of the cosmos and the essence of existence to remove all pain and suffering and grant happiness, illumination and divine guidance on the path to enlightenment.
You can also create your own mantra, prayer or affirmation in your own words as long as it is from your heart and intuitively feels right for you.

The Merkaba, or Tantric Star, consists of two equally sized interlocking tetrahedra triangles where one points up & the other down representing the God/ Goddess, Yin/ Yang the divine masculine & divine feminine in Tantric union. The upward pointing triangle represents the divine masculine energy and the downward pointing triangle, the divine feminine energy as they interlock, the Merkaba holds the energy of divine union. It is believed that by meditating upon the merkaba & by wearing it as a sacred charm, a pathway to enlightenment develops, a doorway to higher levels of consciousness which maintains the integrity of your energy field & immune system, repels negativity & provides protective energy, empowerment & powerful healing potential. This ancient symbol of sacred geometry is also a three dimensional Star of David.
The collection of Heart Mala Pentagram Jewellery includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings, handmade with love from silver, brass & healing gemstones.
The Pentagram or pentacle is a five pointed star commonly used as a symbol of the interaction between the five elements. The upward point of the star is representative of the spirit and the other four points represent the elements of earth, air, fire, and water.
The pentagram is also representative of the five points on the human body. The circle enclosing the pentagram represents the cyclic nature of life and is also symbolic of unity. In many pagan religions and followers of Wicca, the pentagram or pentacle is the symbol of the earth or the Goddess and is used in sacred ceremony in circle-casting rituals.
Pythagorians considered the pentagram an emblem of perfection and was associated with the golden ratio (which it includes), and the dodecahedron, the fifth Platonic solid, which has twelve pentagonal faces and was considered by Plato to be a symbol of the heavens. The pentagram had a secret significance and power to the pythagoreans, and was used as a password or symbol of recognition amongst themselves.
Ancient Solomonic texts of the Medieval period gave great importance to the pentagram, under the name "Solomon’s Seal" or the “seal of Solomon”
In medieval times the pentagram was also used as a symbol of health in the medical profession of the 16th century.
There is also a connection with the pentagram and Christianity as many examples of the pentagram’s use can be seen in early Christian architecture, cathedrals and churches.
The pentagram is also associated with divine feminine energy and the planet Venus. As Venus orbits the Earth, she makes a pentagram or 5 petal rose mandala known as the "Rose of Venus" (which happens to be the Heart Mala logo).
Wearing a pentagram charm is believed to be a potent symbol of protection, empowerment, health and good fortune.
The Heart Mala collection of Rosary Beads are handmade with love using healing gemstones, pearls & sacred geometry charms. Heart Mala Rosary Beads may be worn for devotional practice or simply for the joy of wearing a sacred necklace of beauty.
Rosary Beads are prayer beads used in Christianity to repeat prayers of devotion. The word Rosary comes from the Latin “Rosarium“ meaning garland of roses, inferring a garland of beads or a garland of prayers. Each bead is used to count a specific prayer for the purpose of lifting and opening one's self to the divine.
The gorgeous Heart Mala collection of Rose Of Venus charms & jewellery includes necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, handmade with love from silver, brass & healing gemstones.
The planet Venus is named after the Roman Goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Ancient Babylonians referred to her as the "bright queen of the sky" and "jewel of the sky." Other ancient cultural names for Venus include the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, the Babylonian Goddess Ishtar, the Syro-Palestinian Goddess Ashtart, the Aztec Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli meaning "Lord of the House of Dawn" and the Mayan Kukulcan.
As Venus revolves around the earth, the beautiful mandala pattern of her orbit is seen as a pentagram design or five petal rose known as the “Rose of Venus.” A petal of the orbit design is known as a Venus Transit which occurs when we can see Venus passing directly in front of the Sun and inline with Earth. This is a rare once in a life time event as it occurs once in a 243 year cycle. The Venus Transit comes in a pair, with each transit in the pair spaced eight years apart. There was one transit on June 8, 2004 and on June 6, 2012.
When Venus lies directly in front of the Sun and in line with Earth in the Venus Transit, the energies of Venus are highly focused upon the Earth, inspiring a new level of "intuitive awareness" to permeate Earth and influence human consciousness. This specific transit pair (2004-2012), because it coincides with the Holy Cross galactic alignment, strongly supports the reintegration and emergence of the Divine Feminine principle on Earth, which desperately awaits the guidance and balance of the Goddess.
Venus governs the heart centre (chakra) and is assosiated with unconditional love, compassion, intuitive knowing, harmony, magnetic attraction, romance, beauty and sexual rapture.
By wearing a Rose of Venus charm it is believed to assist in grounding these healing energies of Venus, opening, strengthening and healing the heart chakra, allowing greater capacity to give and receive love. It also enhances creativity, optimism, beauty, abundance, and awareness of soul intent and purpose.
The “Rose of Venus” is the Heart Mala logo and a small “Rose of Venus” charm adorns every Sacred Mala necklace.
Heart Mala showcases the following exquisite collections of handmade Mala Beads: Boho Malas, BrightStar Malas, Element Malas, Goddess Malas, Lava Malas & the Rudraksha Mala range. These gorgeous Malas harness the power of ancient knowledge, sacred geometry & healing gemstones. Inspired by the ancient mystics, these divine Malas are designed in sunny Byron Bay & created for the modern yogi for your spiritual practice, healing, or for the pure joy of wearing a necklace of sacred beauty.
Sacred Rudraksha beads, meaning "eye of Shiva" or "tears of Shiva" in Sanskrit, have been worn by Sages and Yogis since Vedic times for their profound spiritual significance and powerful healing properties. Sacred Rudraksha beads are seeds from the Rudraksha tree and according to ancient Vedic texts, these beads are endowed with cosmic powers to elevate the soul and assist on the path of ascension. It is believed that the Rudraksha contains the secrets of the entire evolution of the cosmos within it. According to the ancient Vedas, Shiva cried tears of compassion for humanity and his tears became Rudraksha Seeds to assist humanity in our healing.
By meditating with a Rudraksha mala or by wearing rudraksha against the skin, it is believed to increase the ability to concentrate, giving clarity and peace of mind, improve memory and relieve stress and anxiety. Rudraksha is also known to slow the aging process, increase stamina, reduce blood pressure, strengthen the heart and balances the nervous system. The Sri Yantra or Shri Yantra, also known as the Cosmic Yantra or Yantra of Creation is the most revered of all the Hindu Yantras. Yantras are a particular field of mandala imagery that visually represents the harmonic tones of mantras. By meditating on the Sri Yantra, an attunement of individual consciousness with the harmony of universal consciousness develops. The Sri Yantra is a symbol of Tripurasundari, the supreme goddess of Tantra. The Sri Yantra is the symbol of nine intersecting triangles within a circle or lotus, and is an interpretation of divine feminine energy intersecting divine masculine energy, the balance of yin and yang. The Sri Yantra is the symbolic representation of the cosmic spiritual union of Shiva and Shakti, the highest ultimate force in the Tantric form.
The Sri Yantra is believed to be the image of the OM mantra, which in the Hindu tradition is understood to be the primordial sound of creation. Thousands of years ago as the Vedic monks sat in meditation chanting the sacred sound of OM, they were able to tune into the vibration of the sound and visioned the Sri Yantra image. Modern science, with its research in sound called “Cymatics”, has been conducting experiments whereby a form of speaker is placed under a metal plate and sand placed on top. At pure tones, the sand forms particular patterns. At the OM frequency, the Sri Yantra pattern forms in the sand… a remarkable testimony to the wisdom of the ancient mystics.
Sri Yantra is one of the most auspicious, important and powerful Yantras. By wearing a Sri Yantra charm and meditating on the sacred design, it is believed to bring about material and spiritual wealth, strengthen relationships, enhances peace, happiness, empowerment, authority, prosperity & alignment with the universal flow of abundance.
