Peacock Brass Pendant Necklace

This Sacred Charm is a beautiful brass Peacock pendant, 5cm long on a black waxed cotton necklace with adjustable knots to lengthen as desired.

The Peacock is renowned for it's iridescent beauty and it is also a creature which is deeply auspicious and symbolic. In ancient Greece, the peacock was the patron bird of the goddess Hera, Queen of Heaven and lawful wife of Zeus. According to myth, she placed protective "eyes" on its feathers, symbolizing all-seeing knowledge and the wisdom of the heavens. In the Roman Empire, peacocks on coins symbolized the females of the ruling houses, the lineage of princesses. Hindu mythology associates peacocks with the Goddess Lakshmi and thus represent her qualities of Abundance in all forms - wealth, friendship, health, family, beauty and love. In Tibetan Buddhism peacock feathers are used in rituals and are not only a symbol of compassion, but also a symbol of immortality and by virtue of their capacity to neutralise and act as a antidote against poisonous emotions such as anger, greed and ignorance.

The peacock pendant is worn to align with the rich symbolic nature and exotic beauty of the Peacock.
